Custom Domains

Use your own branded domain for upload links instead of filechute.com.

Custom domains let you replace the default filechute.com/upload/... URL with your own branded domain, such as docs.yourfirm.com. Clients see your domain in the browser bar and in shared links.

Setting up a custom domain

  1. Go to Settings > Security and scroll to the Custom Domain section.
  2. Enter the subdomain you want to use (e.g., docs.yourfirm.com).
  3. Add the CNAME record shown in the instructions to your DNS provider.
  4. Click Verify. DNS propagation typically takes a few minutes but can take up to 48 hours.

SSL certificate

FileChute automatically provisions and renews an SSL certificate for your custom domain. No manual certificate management is required.

What changes

  • Upload links in shared emails use your custom domain.
  • The upload page URL bar shows your domain instead of filechute.com.
  • Your logo and brand colours continue to apply on the upload page.

Removing a custom domain

You can remove your custom domain at any time from the same settings section. Existing links will revert to the default filechute.com domain. Previously shared links on the old domain will stop working, so update any bookmarks or saved links.

Custom domains are a Pro plan feature.
