Quick Start Guide

Create your first file request and start collecting documents in under 60 seconds.

Get up and running with FileChute in three steps. No credit card required.

Step 1: Create your account

Visit filechute.com/register and sign up with your email or Google account. You'll be taken straight to your dashboard.

Step 2: Create a file request

Click New Request from your dashboard. Give it a title (e.g., “2025 Tax Documents — Smith Family”), then build your checklist of documents you need:

  • W-2 forms
  • 1099 statements
  • Mortgage interest statement (1098)
  • Prior year tax return

You can also add descriptions for each item, set a due date, and organize items into sections.

Step 3: Share the link

Copy the unique upload link and send it to your client via email, text, or any messaging app. Your client can upload files directly — no account required, no login needed.

You'll receive an email notification each time a file is uploaded, and your dashboard shows real-time progress.

What happens next

  • Track progress — See which items are uploaded, pending, or skipped at a glance.
  • Download files — Download individual files or everything at once as a ZIP.
  • Review & approve — Mark requests as reviewed or request re-uploads for specific items.

Tips for your first request

  1. Keep checklist items specific — “W-2 from current employer” is better than “tax forms.”
  2. Add descriptions to clarify what you need.
  3. Set a due date to create gentle urgency.
  4. Use sections to group related documents.
