E-Signature (DocuSign)

Require electronic signatures on uploaded documents via DocuSign.

The e-signature integration lets you require electronic signatures on uploaded documents. After a client uploads a file, they are prompted to sign it directly within the upload flow — no separate emails or portals.

How it works

  1. Connect your DocuSign account from Settings > Integrations > E-Signature.
  2. When creating a request, tick Require e-signature on any checklist item that needs a signature.
  3. The client uploads the document as usual. After a successful upload, a Sign this document button appears.
  4. Clicking the button opens an embedded DocuSign signing experience. The client signs without leaving the page.
  5. Once signed, the completed document is automatically stored alongside the original upload. You can download the signed copy from the request detail page.

Connecting DocuSign

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations and find the E-Signature (DocuSign) card.
  2. Click Connect DocuSign. You'll be redirected to DocuSign to authorise the connection.
  3. Grant access and you'll be returned to Settings. The card will show your connected DocuSign account name.

You can disconnect at any time. Disconnecting does not affect previously signed documents.

Signature placement

FileChute places a signature field using an anchor tag. If your document contains the text /sig/, the signature field is positioned there. Otherwise it defaults to the bottom-right of the last page.

Tracking signature status

On the request detail page, each checklist item that requires a signature shows a status badge:

  • Signature required — document not yet sent for signing.
  • Awaiting signature — signing envelope has been sent, waiting for the client.
  • Signed — document has been signed successfully. A Download signed copy button appears.
  • Declined — the client declined to sign.

Availability

E-signature is a Pro plan feature. Your administrator must configure DocuSign API credentials for the integration to be available.
